I was innocently sitting there on my Instagram machine yesterday when a friend sent me some incredible news.  The Points Guy broke the news that Iceland is reopening its borders to American tourists TODAY!  And, even better, if you’ve been vaccinated, or have had a positive COVID test longer than 14 days ago, or a positive antibody test, you do not have to go through a quarantine period!

The documentation requirements are pretty strict, so be sure to check Iceland’s COVID site for the latest news.  From what I’ve been able to tell, the requirements have been updated to accommodate the United States CDC vaccine card, so make sure you keep yours with you!

Why this news makes me really excited

Yes, obviously I’m looking into returning to Iceland again, but this news represents more than that for me.  I think this represents the start of the Grand Reopening of the World.  Already today I’m seeing announcements for places like Ecuador and Peru, where vaccinated people can travel a bit more freely.

Listen, I know that there are many out there that are still hesitant to travel.  At the same time, though, I think there are economies out there that depend on tourism.  Those who are vaccinated, in concert with mask mandates in airports and airplanes, should be able to travel, in my opinion.

For absolutely no reason whatsoever, here’s another picture from Iceland.
