There is a new group of LCCs (low-cost carriers) trying to make headway into the trans-atlantic market. Recently we saw Norwegian Airlines begin flights to New York from Oslo for very cheap. There’s a new entrant to this low-cost, fee-laden space. Normally I don’t like the airlines that charge fees for everything, but the prices might be too low for me to care!
WOW Air is an Icelandic low-cost carrier based in Reykjavik. They specialized in low-cost flights to Europe, but are beginning service to the USA next year. From Boston and Baltimore you’ll be able to fly nonstop to Reykjavik and onward to many European destinations.
Introductory Sale
To announce their presence in the USA, WOW is selling some incredibly cheap fares from Boston (from March 2015) and Baltimore (from June 2015) to Reykjavik, London, and Copenhagen. Availability is pretty good, but their website wasn’t prepared for the traffic so it’s a bit hard to get through right now.
Fares are as low as $200 roundtrip!
Be aware though that this airline charges fees for everything, from checking a bag to carrying on a bag, so be sure to check their website for all the details. Still though, this’ll make for a very cheap fare across the pond for those willing to brave the fees!
I had Iceland on my “next up” list of destinations, looks like this is my sign to go for it!
All fares must be searched for and purchased on www.wowair.com
$200 plus some additonal charges.. I don’t think that will be too much. It will hardly be $20 additional which is not bad at all.
