I’m privileged enough to be featured on BoardingArea.com this week, which is how many of you are finding your way here for the first time.
Anyway, I thought I’d make it easy for you to explore a bit. My goal as a blogger is to have a conversational writing style with great photography that not only shows you what some place looked like but also what it felt like. I usually meet at least one of those goals in my posts, so there’s always a reason to come back.
I certainly don’t claim to know it all, you’re just looking at my experiences through my lens (photo pun 100% intended). I’ll call it like I see it while trying to be as kind as I can along the way.
Trip Reports
My two favorite trip reports are my 30th birthday round the world trip and my New Zealand trip. (note: this is before I started compressing my photos, so they might take a bit longer to load)
30th Birthday Round the World Trip: features Lufthansa old First Class, Singapore Suites, Cathay Pacific First Class, and stops at the Nurburgring, Oslo, and Hong Kong.
To Middle Earth: I spent a little over a week traipsing around what immediately turned into one of my favorite countries in the world
Hotel Reports
I really enjoy taking pictures at hotels and hope they’re some of the better ones you’ve seen. Some of my favorites are below.
Dubai was a great experience and I enjoyed my time there. The Park Hyatt Dubai was a big part of that, a truly wonderful property.
The Park Hyatt Beaver Creek is one of my favorite hotels in the world. I love the mountains and this place has a ton of character that fits with the area. The staff there did a great job of taking care of my mom and I on our trip.
I did some mileage runs to Hong Kong earlier in 2015 and stayed at the JW Marriott and Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. I did two posts comparing and contrasting the two properties.
And, of course, if you’re a blogger in the points and miles hobby you pretty much have to stay at the Park Hyatt Vendome in Paris.
Flight Reports
I’ve been lucky enough to go on some great flights. I obviously have a flight reports page, but here are my favorites.
Singapore Suites Mega-Review. Back in October of 2014 some punk decided to steal a lot of my copyrighted material for his mega-viral post about flying in Singapore Suites. I got the internet on my side and ended up fighting back harder than I imagine the thief ever thought possible. And then I decided to fly in Suites Class again just to mess with him. This is the story of that flight.
My first Cathay First experience. Way back before I was the seasoned traveler I am now I was a starry-eyed newbie to the hobby and decided to go to Vietnam. As part of that trip I flew on Cathay Pacific. What a flight and what an experience, it showed me what flying could be.
Lufthansa First Class in the bubble. I had only flown in a 747 once before this flight and never up top. The seat made this flight even more special.
Favorite Posts
There are certain posts that I just loved to write. Here are two that, in my opinion, represent the best of my writing.
I did a random side trip to St. Gilgen, Austria, on my weekend jaunt to Europe. It’s one of my favorite towns in the world and I decided to do a detour at the last minute to visit again.
How to be a Poser: High Tea at the Burj Al Arab. I loved writing this. Talk about feeling completely out of place in one of the gaudiest places in the world! But you’re dang right I high tea’d and acted like I belonged.
All of that to say…welcome!
I hope you’ll find something you like here. I have a passion for sharing my stories with you and hope you’re intrigued, inspired, or at least entertained!
Best,
Andy
