2015 was a great year for photography! I traveled to 17 different countries, averaging an international trip per month, and grew as a person and a photographer.
According to Adobe Lightroom I took 27431 pictures in 2015! Whoa! That’s a lot of pictures. Most of them were duds but I managed to capture a few that I really love still today. As I get ready to head off to New York City for a few days to start taking some great pictures in 2016, I thought I’d post my 5 favorite pictures from 2015, enjoy!
#5 – Lake Bled, Slovenia
I love this picture simply because of the location. Lake Bled and its island are just impossible to beat for old world charm and a bucolic setting. Bled also happened to be my Destination of the Year in 2015, so if it’s not on your list it probably should be!
#4 – Bethesda Terrace, New York City, New York, USA
The Bethesda Terrace is one of the keystones of New York City’s Central Park. It sits next to the Bethesda Fountain and represents the center of the park, as originally designed. This was one of the first portfolio images I shot with my new camera and I couldn’t be happier with it. I love the color in the sky and how it contrasts to the man-made light below.
#3 – Angel’s Landing, Zion National Park, Utah, USA
Looking back I’m not sure I ever did a full write-up on my completely stupid one day attempt at driving from Vegas to Zion National Park, finishing the Angel’s Landing hike (which is much more dangerous than I realized at the time), and making it back in time for my 1am flight to Dallas. I don’t consider myself a hiker by any stretch but this hike made one out of me. I can’t wait to go back and do this one again, simply unbelievable. If you’re into hiking, this should be on your bucket list.
#2 – Copenhagen University Library, Copenhagen, Denmark
This building was right across from my hotel and looked absolutely incredible from the outside. Unfortunately access was only allowed for students completing their Master’s degree studies during the time I was there. I managed to sneak in and grab this picture (very quietly, I may add) before being asked to leave. I HAVE to go back here in 2016!
And now, my number one picture for 2015…
#1 – Lugard Road, Hong Kong
I took this waaay back on January 18 and it remains one of my favorites of all time. You’ve probably seen it quite a few times on the blog and it’s one of the keystone images on my photography portfolio website.
What’s next in 2016?
So far the only thing I have planned is this week’s trip to NYC. Last year I didn’t know I’d be taking that first trip to Hong Kong until the week of, so you just never know where I’ll end up next! I hope you’ve enjoyed these images as much as I enjoyed taking them!
Let me know which is your favorite in the comments below!
The best image for me has to be Lake Bled. It looks like it’s straight out of a fairy tale and definitely somewhere I shall go before I die!
Your shot from Lugard Rd deserves to be in the top 5 list every time, but still, I had zero desire to see Slovenia until you posted your pics.
I’m pretty sure the photo from Lugard Road is the one that brought me to your blog – it was that or a HKG flight review. It certainly is my favorite picture, although it’s tough to choose.
Thanks so much Nancy, I’m glad you found the blog! That Lugard Road pic has my heart, so many good memories taking it.
