American Airlines has always rewarded status members with two luggage tags and a card that has their status on it. Towards the end of last year their card vendor went bankrupt so there was a delay while they found a new one. I qualified for Executive Platinum status in October of last year and started worrying that they’d never get here but lo and behold here they are! I was so excited that I put together a little photoshoot for them, realizing how ridiculous that is. Anyway, I’m going to be talking about Executive Platinum status this week so I thought it’d be a good Picture of the Week!
For the photographers: Yes I felt weird doing a photoshoot of status cards, first of all. I shot these with my Sony a7rII with the Zeiss Batis 85mm lens at f8. Shutter speed was 1/200 of a second and I hit the cards with a Yongnuo flash at 1/16 power. The backdrop is a HurleyPro white matte board that I use for headshots (but it also works crazy well as a white seamless backdrop!). Didn’t do much post-processing in it, just adjusted the white balance and threw on some sharpening.
I received mine as well but don’t understand the purpose of them. Can you explain what they are for? I understand that there is contact information on them, but that is also easy enough to find on the AA app. Will you please talk about the recognition certificates that were included in the same mailing? Actually a good idea in those AA excellent customer service occurrences (no matter how rare they may seem)!
I received my Platinum card 2 days ago… Do you know why I didn’t get baggage tags?
Hi Adam, sorry, don’t know if anything changed with the baggage tags for PLTs.
