Yesterday I posted some great deals to Europe this winter from our friends at The Flight Deal. As tends to happen when a couple of airlines start putting certain regions on sale, others tend to follow, and today we see a few others joining the fray.
Before we get to the deals, here are a few guidelines about these types of deals to properly set your expectations:
- They’re most likely not going to be available around major holidays like Christmas or New Year’s
- You’ll need to have some flexibility with the dates
- Many of these fares require a 7-day minimum stay
- If you’re reading this after November 10th, the fares are probably gone
Air France/KLM: San Francisco-northern and eastern Spain
Head from the west coast to Spanish cities like Bilbao, Valencia, Alicante, and the party island of Ibiza. This fare is a little bit more expensive than the $400s type fares I posted yesterday, but there’s a reason for that: this fare is showing limited availability in April/May 2017 and even late summer 2017!
While this fare doesn’t appear to be valid for more popular destinations in Spain like Barcelona and Madrid, the public transport system in Spain is absolutely fantastic, with all manner of trains, buses, and cheap rental cars criss-crossing the Iberian peninsula. That said, there’s plenty to see in all of the cities I posted above, like the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao (pictured above), for example.
American: Seattle – Frankfurt
American is hitting at Delta/Skyteam fares here. For $500 you can fly to Germany in the early part of 2017. Although there’s a 7-night minimum stay, this fare plops you right smack in the middle of western Europe. From Frankfurt you could head southeast to the amazing Bavaria region of Germany, head even further southeast into Austria to visit one of my favorite villages in the world, or simply head northwest to have your go at the world-famous Nurburgring Nordschleife racing course (pictured above).
As always, I encourage you to subscribe to The Flight Deal (or their sister site Fare Deal Alert) for their coverage city nearest you so you’ll never miss these amazing deals!
I would like to get to Germany France or Austria, but it seems that cheap airfare is near the coasts Boston, DC, NYC or stranger to me on the west coasts.
I guess the discount is still good, but typically I am looking for a means to travel far from Iowa to get to the port of exit that is discounted. That typically adds another few hundred to the price.
It’s true Sean, most of these cheap airfares are on the coasts simply because that’s where most of the competition is between airlines (with the except of Chicago maybe) but stay tuned, you never know when a good deal will pop up next!
Hello Andy, my family’s would like to travel to Europe specifically in Spain ( Madrid ) for this special offers. I would like to know the best way to book my reservation?
Carlos,
If you click on the link you will go to The Flight Deal website, they tell you exactly how to search for and book these deals.
Buena suerte!
Am hoping to go to UK next fall in late September ( nonstop from seattle hopefully or SFO) just not sure when is the best time to look for flights to get a decent price…any advice?
Hi Lisa, I would wait until the Spring to book, booking this early won’t necessarily result in a cheaper price believe it or not.
I have been planning on going to Berlin, but the flights have been too expensive. This year I will go, but still need a good deal. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Joye
Hi Joye, where are you departing from?
