Occasionally I have a good thought or two. I mean it’s pretty seldom but I guess I get lucky from time to time. One of the best decisions I ever made was booking a night at Amanpuri almost a year and a half ago. I happened to be in Singapore and figured Phuket was close enough to warrant a trip, particularly because it was the low season in Thailand. I made two bookings (and no I didn’t use some special blogger rate, as if those exist in the first place): one night at Amanpuri and one night at the Hyatt Regency in Phuket. Why both hotels? Simple: I couldn’t afford to spend two nights at Amanpuri, even with rooms at half price!
If you want to see my full review of Amanpuri I encourage you to see my full review here. I’m wistful at the moment, not having crossed an ocean in almost 6 months and missing travel so my mind naturally goes elsewhere in the world to amazing places like Amanpuri. Soooo this post is simply an homage to one of the most amazing resorts at which I’ve had the pleasure of staying.
Check-in Area
Amanpuri seems to rise from the forest itself instead of looking like a big cement structure plopped down into the wilderness.
Your check-in experience feels like you’re in a museum instead of at a resort. The check-in process is quick and speedy and you’re offered a familiar site, a chilled towel, which is a welcome relief from the atmosphere heat humidity.
My Room
The rooms at Amanpuri aren’t actually rooms. They are your own individual buildings.
This is Pavilion 901, my “room”. Yes, that entire pavilion is my room. It was crazy nice.
See? Told you, it’s nice. But there’s also an outdoor dining area where you can order dinner if you so choose.
The Spa
The spa area was amazing, such a relaxing experience after flying all the way over from the States. My spa treatment was included since I booked the trip with American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts.
The Pool Area
This is the best part of Amanpuri. The pool area is unbeatable, even compared to the private beach down the staircase. It’s just perfect.
The Beach
My stay at Amanpuri was punctuated by one of the best sunsets I had ever seen, the memories of which still make me smile to this very day.
Top-notch photos!
Hi Andy, love your blog and pictures. Definitely the best photographer travel blog out there.
P/S: Paragraph 4, should be familiar “sight” and not “site”.
Oops, great spot!
