American announced details of their Basic Economy fares a few months ago and today they loaded Basic Economy tickets for travel beginning March 1.
(for a quick reminder of the restrictions of Basic Economy fares see my article here)
The Dallas Morning News announced that the new Basic Economy fares are now available on the following ten routes:
- Charlotte-Orlando
- DFW-Baltimore
- DFW-Tampa
- DFW-Philadelphia
- Miami-Tampa
- Philadelphia-New Orleans
- Philadelphia-Fort Lauderdale
- Philadelphia-Charlotte
- Philadelphia-Miami
American does a good job of letting you know how the fares work on their website and make it very clear that there is a difference between Main Cabin and Basic Economy, props to them for that.
So be sure to check your fares before booking so there won’t be any surprises at the airport! The difference between Basic Economy and Main Cabin fares on United and Delta is usually around $20 per flight, I’d expect American to be roughly the same.
What do you think about the Basic Economy fares? Tell me in the comments below!
TPA-MIA is always full! Why on earth would you sell cheap seats on this route? Another inane decision by the powers that be!
