I absolutely love Instagram’s new Gallery feature. For those of you unaware, Fstoppers sums it up nicely: you can now add galleries of up to 10 images to Instagram posts. Here’s an example (from my Instagram page, which you should follow!):
Many of you (including myself) love panoramic photography but Instagram limits your ability to display them in their full glory, but the gallery feature has come to the rescue!
Here’s how to use Galleries to post panoramas to Instagram:
- Process your panorama
- Using Lightroom/Photoshop/Whatever, crop your panorama into one of the following aspect ratios: 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, etc.
- Once you’ve cropped the image, split the image into 1:1 blocks and save those as your images
- Once those images are on your device, simply use the Select Multiple option to select the panorama in display order
- You’re done! Now your followers will be able to see your beautiful panoramas in all of their beauty!
Here’s an example of how it will look:

Hey can u give some specific instructions on what to do in lightroom? Thanks
Great post! I really like the account @Earthpano which only posts panoramas… and they are stunning.
How Instagram has become such a popular image hosting website is beyond my comprehension. It’s ridiculously limited in every way imaginable. You need to jump through hoops just to post a panoramic image? And even it only views one segment at a time. Give me Flickr any day of the week….
