The first official announcements are coming in the wake of the cessation of diplomatic relations between Qatar and five Middle Eastern countries (The Maldives have since followed).
Effective 6 June, both Etihad and Emirates have cancelled all flights to Doha. The press releases are similar between the two airlines, since they’re both part of the UAE.
Put simply: if you are on an Emirates or Etihad flight to Doha from 6 June 2017, your flight will be cancelled and you will be refunded all money paid. It will be up to you to find alternate travel arrangements.
There will surely be more to come, as I have yet to receive a response from Qatar Airways asking for comment. Qatar is also still selling service to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, Bahrain, and the Maldives as of the publishing of this article, but I’m sure they’re still trying to put together a plan on how to take care of everything. This is definitely not the news Qatar wanted this week, as they were slated to debut their new QSuite Business Class seat this weekend.
I hope this gets resolved quickly, can’t believe this has happen when I just booked our seats to London with family and we were looking forward to seeing the family and friends in the UK.
I hope so as well so you can enjoy some time abroad!
