Air France has announced a return to DFW airport in 2019!

The Skyteam alliance member hasn’t flown nonstop to DFW since 2001, when they cancelled service during the downturn after the 9/11 attacks.

Air France will be flying A330 aircraft with 224 seats: 36 in business class, 21 in premium economy, and 167 economy seats.

They’ll have flights 3x weekly (Wednesday/Friday/Sunday) between March 31 and October 25 with two more flights added on Mondays and Saturdays between July 1 and September 1.

My take

It’s always good to have competition.  DFW has long been American’s “fortress hub” (or prison hub if you ask their frequent flyers based there) but now the past year has seen quite a few additions to the competitive landscape to Europe.  In addition to Lufthansa, who has operated a nonstop to Frankfurt for a long time out of DFW, American now has to compete with Icelandair and Wow Air (via Reykjavik) and will now have nonstop competition on its DFW-CDG route.  When airlines compete, passengers win, so a hearty bonjour to Air France at DFW!
