It’s time for the holidays again, which means one thing: “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey. And I guess a lot of family celebrations and some decorations and maybe even some gift-giving.
In Dallas, though, it means quite a bit of decorationing. The Omni hotel, Dallas’s half-billion dollar hotel, is a beautiful and iconic part of the Dallas skyline. They also do a nice job of decorating for the holidays.
My buddy Matthew took some great timelapse footage of the construction of the decorations, I’ll show you the video here:
Anyway the location is smack in the middle of downtown Dallas, which makes for a beautiful photo spot for people like me, as it’s fairly easy to capture the decorations with iconic Dallas elements in the background, so that’s what I did for this week’s pictures of the week, enjoy!
For the photographers: I took both of these with with my new Fuji GFX 50s camera and the Canon 24mm tilt-shift lens (via the Techart EF to G adapter). Now normally I’d have waited around for a while and use some time-blending elements to emphasize certain parts of the scene but this was early in the morning, the sunrise wasn’t looking good, and I needed to get to the office, but I still wanted to get some good pics for everyone! As always, please let me know if there are any questions about any of the post-processing!
When I read the title of the post was “pictures of the week holiday season in Dallas”, I was expecting to see more than 2. What’s the point of only posting 2 photos? This isn’t instagram. Why not post at least a dozen?
Hey Jason, sorry it didn’t meet your expectations. I’ve been pulling 16-18 hour days at my full-time job lately and had a few minutes before sunrise to run downtown, grab a few pictures, and then edited them on Lightroom Mobile before I walked into the office. I typically only post 1-2 pictures for the picture of the week series in any case.
Beautiful pictures! I’d never thought of Dallas for the holidays. Thanks!
