I’m in Hong Kong! I’ve been burning the candle at both ends recently and needed to recharge my batteries, so unsurprisingly that means I booked a flight and made my way to one of my favorite cities in the world. I’ve been loving every second here, even though the weather isn’t entirely cooperating.
I’ve always wanted to take this classic picture of the Temple Street Market. It’s a street market that’s open nightly from 6-11pm and I’ve seen quite a few great pictures from an elevated surface which capture the multi-colored tent roofs as the glow emanates onto the surrounding buildings. I made my way over to Temple Street in Kowloon (just a single stop away from my hotel on the MTR) and walked through the market, looking up to see if I could figure out where people were standing to get the picture. At the other end of the market I saw a huge parking garage, bingo! I made my way to the second floor…there was a car parked in the place I wanted to be. The same was true for the third floor. The fourth floor, though, didn’t have a car in the parking spot I wanted to shoot from and I was able to capture a wonderful scene that matched exactly what I was hoping for, so please enjoy this week’s Picture of the Week!

For the photographers: I shot this with my Sony a7rIII camera with the 24-70 G Master lens. It’s a blend of two different exposures (to tame down the highlights a little bit) but I shot it at 24mm and f8. Pretty easy blend in Photoshop, nothing crazy like Elia Locardi would do. As always, please let me know if you have any questions!
Nice! I didn’t think to bring a super-tall ladder the last time I visited Hong Kong. Next time for sure though. 😉
