I’ve written quite a bit about the various tools I use to find cheap airfares. The one I find myself going back to over and over again is Google Flights. It’s flat out the easiest to use and it searches for fares quicker than even the airlines themselves!

Hi everyone! Things are about to pick up in a serious way here on the blog so today I’m relaxing. The last Monday of May is when the USA celebrates Memorial Day, a day set aside to celebrate and remember those who have given their lives in service to their country. Things have been a little nuts lately so I’m grateful for the respite from everything. Now I know most of my pictures of the week are landscape/cityscapes, but I also like food photography, particularly steak photography. Granted I always get some weird looks from neighbors when I set a cutting board on the trellis of my balcony and take a picture of it with a palm tree in the background, but that’s the price you pay, right?

I was in Europe for about 10 days over the past couple of weeks for a mixture of work and play. As part of my photography habit I end up perusing through various sites and blogs and kept seeing the same place popping up over and over again. It was a beautiful iconic picture and I just knew I had to have it in my portfolio. When my work in Europe was done I had my chance to take it.
