I’m really excited about American Airlines’s new 787s. Yes yes, they got them years after most others, but I can’t help but be a bit of an American fAAnboy (since I don’t really have another option living in Dallas) so I’m happy to fly it with my “home” airline. The first commercial flight will take place May 7th but the planes have been busy on training flights literally all around the world, so it’s not uncommon to see them around DFW.
For those of you who have never been, there’s a cool little place out at DFW Airport called Founder’s Plaza. Basically it’s a large viewing area sitting just off the northwest side of the airport with great views of one of the main runways of DFW. I’ve been going out there lately to get some stock images for the blog, which involves me putting on my 70-200mm lens and holding down the shutter of my camera and hoping the planes cooperate.
Over the past two weeks I’ve been lucky enough to capture two different AA 787s either in takeoff or landing, so I thought I’d share my two favorites with you for this week’s Picture(s) of the Week!

For the photographers: I shot these with my Sony a7 and the Sony 70-200mm telephoto. The exposure time for both was around 1/1600 of a second at ISO 100 and f4.0.
