I’ve featured the work of Mike Kelley a few times on the blog. In addition to being an award-winning architectural photographer, Mike is also an aviation geek. A couple of years ago he released an image called Wake Turbulence that shook up the aviation and planespotting communities (awful pun, sorry). Assembled after an entire day of shooting out at LAX, it captures the beauty and complexity of air travel in a very unique way. Wake Turbulence went mega-viral, which gave Mike a great idea. 25 flights, 75000 miles in the air, and 90+ travel days later, I’m proud to share Mike’s new series…[click through to see the pics!]

Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas, has an unfortunate distinction: it’s the place where JFK was assassinated. That said, it’s still a very well-traveled are and serves as a major thoroughfare to and from downtown Dallas. There’s a small pedestrian bridge where you can walk next to some train tracks over the middle of Dealey Plaza. I had seen pictures from some other Dallas photographers that caught the symmetry of the area and went downtown one morning to get one of my own.

I’ve featured the work of Mike Kelley a few times on the blog, most recently my support for his LA Airspace kickstarter project (my copy of LA Airspace is still sitting happily next to me as I type this).
This morning Mike debuted a new image series called Final Approach. It’s a series of high-resolution images of various aircraft making their final approach into LAX. Some of the details you can see are incredible, click through for some samples and a quick interview with Mike himself!
