Picture of the Week: Angel’s Landing at Zion National Park

Picture of the Week is back! Yesterday I did a day trip from Dallas to the top of Angel’s Landing at Zion National Park. For most people that’s not exactly a day trip but I’m an idiot and thought I could do it! Thankfully I made it up and back safely and made my redeye flight back to Dallas with literally minutes to spare.

This picture will look similar to one that I shared from last year’s hike, but I’m still proud of it! Last year I was going probably out of my station a bit in attempting the hike, I was out of shape and had a few beers at a buddy’s wedding in Vegas the night before. This year the hike was still difficult but I made it up the trail in much better condition than last time.

Picture of the Week – Southwest Airlines…from a helicopter!

Picture of the Week – Southwest Airlines…from a helicopter!

I had the joy of taking another tour with my buddies at Epic Helicopters on Friday. The heli rides are not cheap but I love taking photos from such a unique perspective. As we flew over Love Field (home of Southwest Airlines), the pilot let me know there was a Southwest Airlines flight landing underneath us. I know that sounds dangerous but we were at plenty of altitude and the tower told us to fly over the airport. As the flight landed we were in the perfect position for some great photos!

Picture of the Week: A Tribute to Dallas

Picture of the Week: A Tribute to Dallas

This week was a tough week for the city of Dallas. During an important conversation on race relations in America, a lone gunman took it upon himself to cause terror and destruction against a police department that has actually been lauded for reaching out to minority communities. Like I mentioned in my video, it was just a tough time (and still is). But Dallas is a city of strong and loving people and I was happy to see that Dallas responded in a strong and loving way.

Anyway, I don’t have a new picture to share this week (I mean I do, but I’ll get back to our regularly-scheduled programming next week), I just wanted to share some of my favorites of Dallas that I’ve taken over the years, to show you the city I love and the city I call home.

Picture of the Week: The Most Epic Fireworks Photo EVER

Picture of the Week: The Most Epic Fireworks Photo EVER

Greetings! Sorry for the delay for the PotW this week. The United States and Americans worldwide celebrated the Independence Day holiday this weekend. In that spirit I took a couple of days off of work and enjoyed a four-day weekend! Many of you have probably figured out that I have been severely stressed out recently and it finally caught up with me last week. This weekend was just what the doctor ordered: relaxing with good friends at pool parties and quite a few adult beverages!

I’m back at work and feel relaxed and ready to take on the world. I may actually book a trip to Europe to celebrate! Anyway, America loves fireworks around New Year’s Eve and the 4th of July. One of the biggest fireworks displays in the country is in Addison, Texas, a suburb very close to Dallas. They call it Kaboom Town, and for good reason. Click through to see the amazing shot!

Picture of the Week: Macro Edition

Picture of the Week: Macro Edition

Every once in a while I’ll take my camera if I’m walking around a place where I think there will be flowers or other interesting things to photograph. Something I’ve been getting into more and more lately is macro photography. I own the Sony 90mm FE macro lens, which is one of my favorites for portraits, but only recently I’ve started actually using it to shoot close up images.

Well that was a long explanation…I found a pretty flower that had a bunch of miniature blooms on it so I took a picture of it. Click through for this week’s Picture of the Week!
